The executive director of the film academy said Tuesday that Farrah Fawcett wasn't included in the Academy Awards' In Memoriam segment because the actress was better known as a TV star.
It was a difficult decision for the committee that assembles the segment to omit Fawcett, said Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences executive director Bruce Davis, who added that he's not surprised some fans and family members are upset.

Actress Spencer Locke has been cast in a guest spot on the CW's "Vampire Diaries." She will play Amber Bradley, a girl who enters a beauty pageant along with Elena and Caroline. Locke has appeared in the ABC series "Cougar Town," the film "Resident Evil: Extinction" and the Nick series "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide."

Sandra Bullock warmed up for the Academy Awards with a stop at the Razzies to collect a dubious honor: a worst-actress prize for her romantic comedy flop "All About Steve."
Bullock swung by the Razzies on the eve of her expected triumph at Sunday's Oscars, where she is considered the favorite to win best actress for "The Blind Side." If she wins Sunday, Bullock will be the first person to win an Oscar and a Razzie over the same weekend.

College student John Park and gospel singer Jermaine Sellers were sent home Thursday along with female semifinalists Michelle Delamor and Haeley Vaughn as "American Idol" voters trimmed the field to 16 rivals on the Fox singing competition show.
Park, a 21-year-old from Northbrook, Ill., said he left the show with no regrets when he heard the bad news from host Ryan Seacrest.
Joining Park out the door was Sellers, a 27-year-old from Joliet, Ill.
